The Hollywood Community Garden Tour

The Hollywood Community Garden Tour will consist of a visit to 4 local community organized gardens including the new Raymond Avenue Garden, the solar powered Enrique Noguera Garden located at the Stephen Bloodworth Schoolhouse, the new Fountain Avenue Garden, and the Wattles Garden located at the historic Wattle Mansion.

The South Los Angeles Community Garden Tour will consist of a visit to 3 local community organized gardens including the residential West Adams garden, the Vermont Square garden, and the Stanford Avalon Garden providing soil for 200 displaced South Central California farmers harvested under a power line right-of-way.

LATTC is a PIER demonstration site for energy-efficient lighting and HVAC technologies. Conference attendees can view product installations via a walking tour of campus and benefit from seeing these technologies first-hand. Get out into the sunshine for some fresh air and a walk. What could be better at a conference on sustainability and green design?

USC Campus Center Tour with Glumac

Located at the heart of USC, this new 193,000 sf campus center will be used by virtually every person who passes through the campus. The new complex will connect the Gwynn Wilson Student Union and the Pertusati University Bookstore with new dining options, student life and involvement space and offices for Admissions and student organizations.

Construction is expected to be complete in June 2010 and is expected to receive LEED Gold Certification. A few of the sustainability features include; chilled water storage, radiant heating, pollution control equipment , and high efficient kitchen exhaust. Through energy optimization, this building will save 31% in energy cost as compared to a standard building.

Green Building Tour: Northeast Academic Hall and Student Services
and Administration Building

Los Angeles Harbor College’s North Academic Hall and Student Services and Administration buildings are the first two buildings in LACCD to achieve LEED® Gold certification. The design took advantage of solar orientation, creative use of daylighting, and shading strategies to create high performance buildings while defining campus architecture and creating beautiful, light filled spaces for learning. The project received 2009 Best Overall Sustainable Design Award by UC/CSU/CCC and 2009 Design Green Award by Architectural Foundation Los Angeles.

  • 80% of regularly occupied spaces have natural light
